Green Screen FAQ's

1. How does the Green Screen filter work, and how does it differ from the other filters?
Answer: It is very different from any filter available for residential use. The Green Screen filter is a commercial, hospital, commercial grade filter. You can only buy it from our company. It is a Progressive density, Polyester media pad, treated with an anti-microbial that has been baked into the fiber. It does not support the growth of mold, mildew, fungus, allergens or dust mites. The filter loads evenly & won't stop or restrict your air flow like other filters. It has an efficiency rating down to 1 micron.

2. How often do I change my filter?
Answer: We recommend changing them every 2 - 3 months. That is about the time when your resistance will start to go up due to the amount of dirt the Green Screen filter has trapped. We want you to change your filter when the efficiency is high and the resistance is low.

3. I have a really odd sized filter in my home, can you fit my unit?
Answer: Yes! We can custom size your frame to fit ANY size. The replacement pads are always cut to fit your frame.

4. Is it environmentally friendly?
Answer: Yes! It is a synthetic polyester fiber. It is also Land Fillable (safe to add to a landfill). You don't have the cardboard or fiberglass to dispose of. The Frame is 100% recyclable.

5. Is the Green Screen filter better than an electrostatic or pleated filter?
Answer: Yes! The whole design is different. An electrostatic filter has never been a good concept. It looks better and costs more, so people think it is better, when in fact it is worse. First, as mentioned previously, you NEVER want to wash a filter and put it back in you're A/C unit. This is a sure way of growing mold and mildew. Every time the electrostatic filter is washed, the electrostatic charge is depleted and completely gone after the second wash. Both the pleated filter and the electrostatic filter are very restrictive on your air flow. Neither filter has an efficiency rating like the Green Screen filter. They only have an arrestance rating.

6. Should we use this filter even if we have an air purifier or alpine air cleaner?
Answer: Yes! In using both you capture the vast majority of all particles in the air.

7. What are efficiency, dust holding capacity and resistance?
Answer: Efficiency is a grading scale to grade how much and what size particles a particular type of filter can stop. The scale goes from arrestance, efficiency, hepa, & ulpa. Arrestance is 10 micron sized particles and up. (Large Particles) efficiency is 10 microns down to 1 micron. (smaller) HEPA is from 99.97% at .3 micron (smaller) ULPA can catch as much as 99.99995% at .3 micron. (very small) One thing to remember is that the smallest particle size that can be seen with the naked eye is 10 microns, or roughly the equivalent of a human hair.

8. What is an Anti-Microbial?
Answer: The Green Screen filter has had and anti-microbial agent woven into its fibers. This will inhibit the growth of any bacteria, mold, mildew, algae, allergens and dust mites that come in contact with the filter media. It is 100% safe. It does not have an odor or give off any harmful fumes or gases. It is safe for all residents and pets in the home. The Anti-Microbial is so safe in fact that it is used to line the inside of soda cans for the same reasons.

9. What is Progressive density?
Answer: This is when the media fibers get smaller as you get to the back of the filter or air leaving side. This allows the larger particles to be captured in front and the smaller particles to travel deeper into the filter and become trapped. This allows the Green Screen filter to load evenly and lowers the resistance of the air flow through your filter. This filter does not face load.

10. What is the sticky stuff I feel on my filter?
Answer: That is a wet tactifier, which helps the filter catch and hold very small particles. It is absolutely harmless and easily washes off with soap and water.

11. Will the Green Screen filter help with the dust and pet dander in my home?
Answer: Yes! This filter is designed to catch even the smallest particles, including pet dander and dust mites.
